Goals:
1) To outline possible approaches to dealing with the current financial crisis.
2) To outline proposals for mitigating the damage of the financial crisis on the population and social stability of the United States and other nations of the world.
3) To outline proposals for generating stable and sustainable economic growth, both within the United States and globally.
Assumptions 1)
Principles:
1) Sustainability
2) All should have the opportunity to develop their full human potential
3) All human transgressions should be redemptive (from WS: please clarify? I think I see, but this is a bit opaque) Debtor prisons aren't a good idea.
Constraints:
1) One cannot solve a debt crisis by issuing more debt.
2) We must stop converting private debts into public debts, because we cannot bail everyone out fairly, and we must not put the national government and economy at risk of either a debt-default or a hyperinflation.
3) To restore confidence, any further changes to the financial and economic system must be made gradually and after due debate and discussion. Except for those changes which involve actually enforcing existing laws, rules and regulations. (Comrade Wisdom Seeker commenting on CR at 11.14.08 - 5:53 pm)
